When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I was excited and really wanted to see more of the story. Truth to be told, I have never heard of the Guardian of the Galaxy, despite being a mild Marvel fans. But after a little bit of research, the series were not that famous or even largely popular during the time the comic was release. I guess the overshadowing factor of the Avengers, X-men, Fantastic four, or others Marvel superhero teams were just too much. Nevertheless, the attraction points and characters of the movie were massively promoted. As mentioned above, the trailer was what caught my attention. Much like any Marvels products, the preview of the movie was exhilarating to watch while displayed a lot of actions that are blockbuster worthy. The casting crews are also nothing short of “all stars”. First off, there was Chris Pratt, mostly known for his role as “chubby guy” from the comedy television show “Parks and Recreations”. Chris looked muscular in this movie, adding to his good look, we got an action star on the way. To be honest, I did not see this coming. Zoe Saldana was also featured in the trailer. Zoe is a tremendous actress, carving a resplendent road for her action career in the future. She was known for her role as Neytiri in the movie Avatar (2008). She changed her color into blue now, weird! Next in line are Rocket Raccoon and Groot, which happened to be played by Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel. Both of them are also in my lists of favorite actors. Vin Diesel is of course famous for the Fast and Furious series. Bradley is famous for his role in the Hangover series, Silver Lining Playbook, American Hustle. Lastly, Dave Bautista made up for the last member of the team, and I hope he did not slam any other people into the ground in the movie. Addtionally, there supporting cast are also incredible with such influential actors like: Benico Del Toro, Glenn Close, John C. Reiley. This movie is going to be fantastic! Well! At least the build up said so!
Brash space adventurer Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) finds himself the quarry of relentless bounty hunters after he steals an orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain. To evade Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with four disparate misfits: gun-toting Rocket Raccoon, treelike-humanoid Groot, enigmatic Gamora, and vengeance-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when he discovers the orb’s true power and the cosmic threat it poses, Quill must rally his ragtag group to save the universe.
To begin with, the movie was nothing short of extremely entertaining and elate. I was surprise at how the Marvel franchise can reinvent these characters into such a tremendous movie and make them become a relevant group. This movie was great from start to finished. Although, I do feel a bit “cliche” at the first segment of the movie, “Dead Parent and all”. But after the space ship take the little boy away, the fun begin. Throughout the movie, the scenario was always some where among the abyss of the universe. The obscurity and the detail of some planets are intriguing. The surrounding atmosphere of the setting as absolutely immersive, and they do feel like the characters were in another world. This in turn give the audience an enlighten feeling of escaping from earth. Backing up to these great effects, are the great sound effects, combing these score and sounds together to an alien-based movie are no easy task and the sound crew nailed it. The excitement that the audio create is overwhelming and when people watch in a movie theatre with all of those surround sound; the experience is histrionic. The casts did a tremendous job through out the movie also. Again! Movie like these are not going to launch for an Oscars in the Acting department so there are not much to talk about. Interestingly, Groot, voiced by Vin Diesel, only say 3 words “I am Groot”. But Vin Diesel was able to twist these words into different feelings and emotion, bring a sudden life to the character. Bradley Cooper on the other hand, bring is witty acting style and charm to the character Rocket Raccoon, even though the character was just a raccoon, Bradley make the animal comes to life, and all the sudden: humanistic. The rest of the cast did a fantastic jobs delivering there performance. Considering this movie is probably shot with green screen most of the time. The level of interaction of the actors to there make-believe surrounding was great. Nonetheless, this is kind of an everyday task for them, because as actors, I think they are trained to interact with non-existing prop all the time. The plot was also well written, and they mixed a great level of emotional, action-packed, and comedic scenario to the movie. The plot have a clear direction of what the movie is heading towards, and that is a difficult task to accomplish for an action movie.
My favourite scenes from the movies were the part where Starlord (Chris Pratt) dances when he is trying to steel the orb. This is a great way to start out a movie, making things a funny to draw in the attention. Another scenes that I like was the whole prison escapades of the team. All of the elements of a great action movie was in there, a maturing plot line that can result in a big action sequence, a little bit of comedy, and a riveting walkthrough of the whole experience. This is what come to expect of an action movie and they deliver them with excitement, keeping the audience on the edge of their seat. Finally, the ending scene, which I am not going to spoil, wrap the movie up into a nice and satisfying ending. Although, a bit typical to an action movie.
Overall, this movie will sure to bring you a great and relaxing day. With there movie star-studded casts, a riveting plot, and a great atmosphere. Delivering such excitement is what I come to expect from a Marvel movie, and they did not failed to impress me.
